About us

Wydon Farm is a typical example of a Cumbrian longhouse of three hundred years or so ago with it's attached barns to the right and left.

Wydon farm house was occupied and worked as a traditional farm up until 1992 when the farm passed to John Lamb of Burns Farm near Threlkeld who took over the working of the land. His son Stuart, with his wife and family, moved in and spent several years bringing the property up to modern standards. He also converted the barn into the two cottages we have today. Richard and Annelise Dyke purchased the property in March 2003 and completed the works, then fitted out the cottages as self catering holiday homes. In 2004 they created an additional 1 bedroom cottage (Poppy) and refurbished the farmhouse which was to be their home for the next two years. David and Moira Hopkinson took over the property in July 2006 and continued to run the self catering holiday cottage business until June 2021 when local couple Roger & Val Bragg took over the property and coninues with the business as Moira & David did.
